Sunshine Artist's 8th Annual Art-Festival Poster Contest
And the winners are...
Sunshine Artist received a record-breaking number of entries for this year's poster contest, representing dozens of shows in 15 states from Alabama to Minnesota, Ohio to Texas. There were so many good candidates that some of our staff's favorites didn't quite make our judge's carefully culled final cut - sorry Lazy Days in Cary, North Carolina. But lots of competition is what makes this contest so much fun, and we hope the winners depicted on these pages inspire even more art fairs and festivals to produce high-quality posters in the years to come. Artists appreciate them, art-fair customers love to collect and display them, and they're an artful way to promote a show.
Congratulations to the winning entries - and our thanks to all the shows that submitted their official poster for calendar year 2003. Please read about the professional accomplishments of this year's hard-working judge, Paul F. Wenzel, following the list of winners and honorable mentions.

Judge's comments: "Great blend of image and type. The melding of imagery with typography is fun. It's also very whimsical and a little out of the ordinary. The poster doesn't have solid borders and boundaries. It plays with the idea that a festival can be chaotic."
