This story follows Ryan Costello, a young digital photographer, and his wife, Linda, through their first year on the show circuit. Ryan's work blends skillful camera and computer techniques with an eye for true creativity, reflecting natural talent and formal art training. Well educated, he has a degree in studio art and his wife a degree in English. She is what many exhibitors yearn for: a supportive partner to share the adventure, hard work, frustration and reward of the show circuit.
Disillusioned with unfulfilling corporate positions in Atlanta, they worked for months at restaurant jobs to save the money required for exhibiting on the circuit. They equipped themselves well with a new 6' x 10' Haulmark trailer, a Trimline tent with extra accessories and Pro Panels for display.
Their quest started in April 2006 at a show in Tybee Island, Georgia. I met them while setting up next to their booth, and over the following days, we discussed the ambitious 10-show schedule they planned for the rest of the year. I asked if Ryan would be willing to keep a diary of all their shows as source material for an article. And so began their story.
