I only sell at shows about four to six months out of the year. Are there any credit card companies that don't charge a monthly fee, or that will charge you’re the fee only if you use the service that month?

Thank you
BAC

I'm quite sure many will tell you to use their processor.

My only advice is to get a terminal or one of those new Smart Phone units. Why? because if you use a knucklebuster, you will encounter some new cards that don't have any raised numbers. TD Bank, and the new INK cards are two I have gotten. A knucklebuster is worthless. And if you just write down the numbers, and transpose some, you won't get paid.

And New Jersey has a law now making it illegal to demand a phone number unless the item is going to be shipped. Because the customer's phone number is none of our business, and with the ID theft, the state has passed the laws protecting the customer. So get EVERY charge authorized at the time of the sale, and you won't need any phone numbers.

We use ProPay. They do have a yearly fee, not monthly, but it is a nice LOW fee! :-) They do have some transaction and monthly limits, but their customer service is REALLY good to work with you to increase those limits if you need them to.
I'm also VERY intrigued with the new "Square" service. I think their website is squareup.com
If you have a smartphone that really sounds like a good way to go.
